The installation of CONGEN performs two steps: the installation of the CONGEN files and the preparation of the setup shell scripts which define the environment and path variables to execute Congen and its support programs. If you get CONGEN on a CD, you will find just one directory containing a tar file with the CONGEN files, a simple script, install.sh, which takes care of the installation, this file, and the copyright notice. Just run install.sh, answer its questions, and it should set everything up for you. You will need to have Perl installed in /usr/local/bin for it to work. If you get CONGEN from the Web site, then you will get a compressed tar file which contains the four files found on the CD. Unpack in a temporary directory, run install.sh found therein, and the installation will run the same as the CD version. After the installation is complete, install.sh will tell you what files should be executed to define environment variables so that CONGEN will function easily. Your rights to use CONGEN are specified in the file, COPYRIGHT. Good luck with the program, and I hope to hear from you. Sincerely, Bob Bruccoleri bruc@acm.org
